I have a running 59 ab flathead with a late model flathead intake on it, I want to run the old fuel pump, but I realized that the stock 59 ab rod is to short for this intake, I have a late model 8ba rod, but the dia. is to big? has anyone ran into this? Ill just turn the rod down if I have to, but didnt know if anyone has had this problem before? thanks

There are two different rod lengths for the 59AB. You need the longer. Don't have the measurement in front of me, but someone should chime in.

Rods for early Ford flathead pumps are either 8.872", part number 48-9400-A, and 7.872" pat number 48-9400-B.

Chad,...You could remove the road draft tube , and install a PCV system. keep the bottom of the car cleaner. I can email pics of mine, if you'd like. Nice thing , it's cheap and easy!

If you are running the original vented pan, a breather on the fuel pump stand off will give you a good "in & out" flow. You could plug the front two holes on the 8BA intake.

You can install a PCV valve in that hole. However I've been running with just the vent cap on the filler at the back of the block and have absolutely no sign of any sludge buildup at all. The engine is as clean as the day I built it.
