I have a 1955 GMC 150 (3/4 ton PU) that I am working on. I am doing a "National Forest Service" theme on it. It was even the right color originally and may have actually been a Forest Service truck in it's early years. I want to have stock looking wheels but want to "lose" the old split rims. Is there a source for 8 lug wheels with the clips for the hubcaps or do I have to "piece them together" using later model steel wheels and adding the clips? I have looked extensively and can't seem to find them, so I thought I would ask here.
Been discussed many times on Stovebolt.com and the general concensus is to find modern drop-center wheels and add the clips. It's not that hard to do.
There is a wheel builder here in Denver that might be able to cut the centers out of your wheels, and put them into later hoops without the split rim. It would all depend on the measurement of your centers, and any available hoops.
