exhaust question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hotrod 32 ford, Sep 25, 2012.

  1. Will ramhorns put off less heat then block hugger headers with a full length exhaust on a sbc ?

  2. I think being the ramshorns are cast they will help. Besides they look good.

agree with 325w- heavy cast is more-or-less a heat sink, whereas the relatively thin-walled construction of tubing used in headers, radiates the heat almost immediately. On the other hand, you can touch the headers sooner (after the engine is shut down) than you can with the cast iron manifolds which retain that heat a spell longer. So if changing spark plugs in is next....headers work better.

block huggers are for street rods. We've been using ram horns for 50 years with no ill affects. JMO

Ramhorns every time, plus that the design out flows those chokey blockhuggers.
