    Hi!

I live in Lima, PERU and I just joined the HAMB in order to exchange info and ideas on my newest project.

    I have a 34 Ford hiboy 3 window coupe.

I plan on buillding a HOT ROD with it, with a 392 HEMI (which I already have) and a manual gearbox.

I plan on using mostly parts dated 1958 and older. So it has a real 50s hot rod look. I say mostly because it could prove difficult or hazardous to use parts of that vintage in parts like the brake and fuel system, etc. So yes, I want to achieve that look, but might upgrade on some areas.

I just started diss***embly and will begin on the metal work.

I was wondering which is the best source for sheetmetal and other parts for a 34 ford????

All parts sources are welcome so I can start doing a list of what I need and start shopping!!!!

Salvage yards that specialize in old Fords and 50's and older cars are also welcome!!!!

    Thanks!!!

    Domingo

steves parts?? ill try and google him.

Are you sure there arent any specilaty or dedicated boneyards or used parts dealers? I am sure there must be some....at least I know there are a few for the muscle mopars (which is what I usually do)....they are not cheap, but they exist and they will usually have what you need.

I will look in the cl***ifieds here as well.

I got Bob Drakes Catalog, and even though he doesnt offer much for the 34 Ford, I did get a brand new grille from him..it is nice!

Wow In Lima Peru of all places

are you going to run it on Propane or natural gas?
most of the vehicles down there are not running on gasoline.

Sounds like an awesome project, not many Hot Rods down there
My Wife is from Lima, next time Im down might try to check out your build, and have a few Cristal's with ya.

te deseo lo mejor en tu proyecto:cool:

Fun to watch and hear about cars outside of the states.
    For a customer or personal?
Is there a good car scene down there?
Any links or pics to what's going on?

Thanks and good luck with the build.

We had a great time in Peru. I never saw anything like your car though. You find there?

My old 49 Mercury coupe (that i sold long ago) came from Chili

    Car is blasted.

It is real rusty and will take lots of patching and fabricating to bring it back.....but we can definetly do it, we've had worse than this!

I blasted it to remove the 80 years crud and oil residue that had all over.....and then I just briushed on some phosphoric acid to keep it from flash rusting while we do all the metal work....its very humid here, and freshly blasted bare metal will last only a few hours before it starts to flash rust.....

Whats the story on it. It appears as if someone bobbed the front and rear fenders at some point. Very interesting.

That's a better story than most of us that just bought a car! Great project and good luck with the build. What kind of build style are you going for?

Yes, I do lots of scrounging and I sometimes come up empty handed (most of the time) but then some others I strike gold!!!!

I always take the backroads, stick my head in any open garages -LOL-, always look in the s**** piles and salvage yards, etc.

I am going to do a traditional build on this one....Dont want to use any modern parts on it....all fabbed parts and parts off old 50s or 60s cars at the most.

Dont want any Summit **** on it!!!!

OH BTW, this is my very first HOT ROD proyect. Never worked on one of these before, we usually just do Muscle Mopars with the guys here at the shop.

Good luck with your build, did Peru source LHD cars from the US or was it from Brazil ??
I have a 33 5W B model, that was ex Argentina, RHD with metric Speedo and a factory filled roof.

We have a few factory Sth, American RHD cars coming in down under, all seem to be ex-Canada as those countries were LHD up until WW2, after that they went LHD?

Nice find! Will be watching to see how this project comes together, must be a lot tougher to get parts in Peru than it is here in North America. Good luck with the project!
