Hi fellas.. I dont post much but, i do have some questions .. I have a 51 chevy 3100 it has 58 235 with a granny 4 inclosed drive i ***ume it has a 4.11 in the rear and i was told a while back that i could take the ring and pinion (3.55) out of 50-54 chevy w/ powerglide and it could be interchanged with my 51 3100... The used ring & pinion shows no wear ,chips,or pitts.. Figure i would ask .. Hell it was free.. Now for the other question i dont have the tools to remove or install the pinion to the shaft.. Could somebody point me in the right direction im in houston texas...thanks

I'm not 100% sure but I think the 50-54 3:55 "pumpkins" only fit into the earlier housings - '46 on back. The only 3:55 ge****t that I know of that works with AD trucks is made by Patrick's in Arizona, not cheap, but works. I think he also sells an installation kit that makes it easier for the average guy to install. Several of the guys over on stovebolt.com are running these gears and they seem to be happy with them.

You can get on the stovebolt website and do a search for "3:55" and get a lot of info on the subject.

4:11 would be the ratio of the stock rear end in '51.
