Congrats Brett looks like a great project.

  3. Hey, Brett, congrats - looks like it's gonna be a fun ride when it's done. But one problem - I don't see any "stripes" on her yet!

As D-Russ said, good karma man for all the help you are giving Mrs. J. - nicely done, very nicely done ...

So I heard your sedan may have a new friend...... details???

  5. Kev, I picked up a 30 coupe less the body. It's all there, front fenders, running boards, radiator, complete running gear, headlight bar, grille surround, steering, seat, floorboards, wire wheels.....everything but the body and hood.

Going to go get it next weekend!

Good for you. Looks like you made a plan for any spare time you might have. Can't wait to follow along.

Dang, Brett! 2 A's in a short period, man that's good and I'm glad for ya.

  8. No real progress on the build, but there has been some procurement activity!

Did some horse tradin' and got a complete juice brake setup (F1 front 40 rear) in trade for the coupe seat. I also picked up a nice little Mallory dual-point distributor.

Went back to Mrs. J's and got a set of fiberglass buckets out of a ratty custom Bug...They're high-backs but I thought I might be able to cut/section the top to make little lowbacks and recover them in simple black. If not, they may go in my '46 truck....or sell for $ to buy more stuff.

Still looking for 5.00 and 7.00 'Stones.....

It has 31 splash panels too. Everything suggests that it is a 31.

    How is the project?

  13. Going back and reading the thread....Thanks to all for their good words and encouragement.

    A little update...

When I got the title, Mr. J had never signed it over into his name, so I did come digging. Mr. J had purchased the car from another gentleman, and his name was on the title, Mr. B! A little internet snooping and I found Mr. B's current address and phone number. Called him and had the title signed over to me! Now it's officially mine!

While I was there, he told me he has the ORIGINAL engine for it! AND some other parts I might be interested. I made a deal and promised to come back with a trailer and pick it up. I went yesterday and got it all....engine, speedo, rear seatback frame and unusable springs, 3 old tires (for art, not road use) the old wood header over the windshield (for a pattern, if needed) and 2 boxes fill of little pieces (new valves, old spark plugs, nuts, bolts, trans input shafts (for aligning the clutch), and two NC license plates (one '30, one '31).

Here's the kicker....Title says 1930. But, as pointed out, it has '31 pieces all over it. AND....the engine number indicates that it was stamped in January of 1931. Based on all this, I think the state (either Alabama or NC) goofed on the year of the car. I can't believe that a early 31 engine could end up in a late 30 car, don't see how that would be possible.

So that's where I am as of Christmas 2012! Don't hold your breath for another update....it'll be a while! :D

who cares what the title says. The DMV is the only one with an interest in what the paperwork says. Let them be concerned with it. Build it how you want it, call it whatever you want, and have fun driving the daylights out of it.

  15. i took the 17" wires off the spare chassis and bolted them up to the Tudor the other day, just to see.... Spent the day today cleaning out the garage. I rolled her out to get a better look. Whadaya think?

  20. Looking good Brett,a dropped axle and headlight bar in the future? HRP

  21. Rock n roll!

  22. Thanks! I went to look for more parts and you a truck today! Didn't find a truck but got some parts.

Thanks, Ed! It's going slow but it's progressing.

Definitely a dropped axle, and probably a bar as well. A couple guys I know are wanting to build a jig to drop axles. I volunteered one of mine!

Picked up a Burns 2x2 intake and a T rear spring today. Now I just have to figure out which banger is the better candidate.....

  23. A follow-up.....(sorry for the crappy pics)....

And lets play "find the treasure" in this picture...
