Don't know if this is gospel, but was told that Pa recently changed its requirement for antique plates. I was told that you don't have to send pictures in anymore?????
It is for cl***ic and antique. And you can also run an original plate the year of your car for an additional 75.00 dollars just did mine on Saturday for my 56 and going to do my 23 next week
With not haveing to shows pictures of the antique you aren't off the hook. The owner must sign that the car meets requirements, and they are VERY vague.
That is the best news I heard this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always heard of sending pictures of another car close to your own to get one over on Big Brother...so what about chopped, lowered and motor/exhaust change on my 50 Merc? No problem gettin 50' plates or cl***ic tag?
Tobey56 can say exactly how much, but you pay normal antique fee of $75 plus paperwork. Then pay an additional $75 to use what they call a Vintage plate. You show them pics of the plates, not the car anymore. Plate number can not already be used in any form, like truck or cl***ic. What it doesn't say is if you can repaint the plate, says something like readable from a reasonable distance. Another vague part is where it says the car must be restored to or maintained in original specification. I know what it means to me, but? I've heard the penalty is $2500 if they disagree with what you signed.
Bringing this back from the dead. Do any of you guys have the application form number to register an antique vehicle? An on line search turns up MV11, but they still want pictures with that application. Have any of you gotten an antique registration plate without sending the pictures of the front, rear, and both sides?
I was in Harrisburg for license in Aug. I asked for the new application for YOM tags. They gave me a MV-11 for a regular antique plate, AND a MV-11V to use YOM tags. I asked specifically about pics, because I have a car with original paint they wouldn't give me antique plate for. It wasn't shiney enough. They now want pics of the YOM plate, NOT the car. The owner must now certify that the car is "restored to or maintained in original specification." At one time they were concidering useing both front and back license for the years they used to be required, but that fell through. I know someone that was allowed to use an old dealer plate on his antique car.
