Picked up a t-bird irs for future build of coe. I am thinking about getting a air bag set up but looking at pricing they seem pretty steep. Any opinions of a good set up for a reasonable price? I could deal with maybe doing just the bags and manually filling them to start but would eventually want a complete system. Did any cars come with it that I could find at a yard? TIA, CS

  2. The lincoln in the '90s used bags, it was based on a Fox body suspension.

There is a dodge cab over around town here that used Firestone bags, they can be had from big truck suppliers cheap enough. They are a bellows bag and not a shock with a bag built on.

Neither one of those will get you an irs.

I guess I'd have to ask, how big and heavy of a COE? Will it do any hauling/pulling? IRS may be a weak link in the weight department.

  4. not to mention Camber issues when you slam it with bags ....

Seems like a dumb idea to me

It will be a pick up coe. Will not be used for hauling. I just thought it would be easier to get the ride height I wanted with bags. I am not into low riders so slamming it is out. So, do you think there would be camber issues under these circumstances?

89-97 T-bird Cougar & 93-up Mark VIII were similar but the T / C were on coils. The Mark was on bags with an auto-leveler system. Not Fox-body based, though some carrier parts swap. I'd stick with the 8.8" center section; some of the T/C got a 7.5". You wouldn't gain anything keeping stock bags and brackets; I'd just go aftermarket on the T/C setup you have if it's an 8.8" The camber curve on those cars isn't huge but if you're not trying to drive at significantly different heights, set it up right and align it to your right height and enjoy it.
