OT welding Q: 316 cast to 316 or 304 tubing

    This is for a boater friend of mine (but he digs old cars...) and he's making up something that requires welding cast stainless 316 to either 304 or 316 wrought tubing.

    He's making up a davit system to raise up an inflatable boat to a sailboat swim platform. I wasn't sure if it was possible, but I trust the power of the HAMB to get a good idea of whether its doable... or not.

    316 to 316 use 316 filler rod
    316 to 304 use 309 filler rod

    Works even with cast to wrought, good deal. I did run across those fillers on a welding site earlier today. Appreciate the help.

    Dont know about the wrought , but 309 is for stainless to steel. 316 t0 304, 316 is fine

    308ss or 316ss for either will work fine.
