62 f100 brake problems after disconnecting

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by yellow7jb, Sep 27, 2012.

  1. I have a 62 Ford F100 and just lowered the front using 4.5 inch mono leaf. I disconnected the brake line when doing this and when I got it all back together and screwed the brake lines back on each wheel the brake pedal just goes to the floor like its not hooked up. I disconnected one of them and pumped the brakes to see if any fluid came out but I'm not getting any. This is the original brake setup fyi.

    Any suggestions ?

    It's a pretty simple system on a 62.

    1. You are out of brake fluid. :)

    2. Master cylinder may need to be replace or a kit put in it.

The brakes need to be bled to get the air out. If the fluid is more than a few years old, might as well change it out too. If you don't have a helper, a cheap vacuum bleeder will work for one person.
