I am choosing between Mallory unilite or Mallory dual points distributor for my 8BA engine...

I dont know very much about the unilite distributors.
    Are they durable??
A breakdown means that u have to tow the car if you dont have a spare unit in your pocket wich are expensive while the dual point seems much more suited for roadside repair......

    Please share your experiences....

I have a unilite in mine and the only problem I had with it was when the module burnt out. $45 later for a new module and a $35 "power filter" so I don't fry it again...

I've used a Unilite for 12 years now and as long as you read and follow directions I rebuild the Unilites and get them people who didn't read the directions and install a Ballast resistor and burnt out the modules. the directions are listed at , www.malloryperformance.com ,and can be downloaded.

What kind of ballast resistor should i use....???
I cant se any specs in the users guide of the distributor ????

  8. Mallory also has a coil that does not require the use of a ballast resister.

  9. There's a lot of info here and Fordbarn about Bubba's distributors.Thats what I plan to use.
