I have new door window and quarter window weatherstrip, seals and sweep and channel kits from MercuryLand to install on my '54 Monterey 2D HT.

However, I am at a loss of how exactly the stainless trim/molding around the door near gl*** is removed. There are no screws that I can see with the door panels off. I was able to remove some other parts of stainless that were attached with simple clips, but these seem different.

After researching here and google I think I need a special tool as shown in the attached pic; is this correct?

I have a trim/molding removal kit from the local Harbor Freight, but it does not have anything similar to this tool included.

    Your help is appreciated!

I'm not certain about the 54 but it may have staples or bend tabs. I've run into situations where previous owners used short self tap screws to reattach the new stuff. They were a little too long and ended up dimpling (& piercing in some places) the stainless trim on the outside. Some even used rivets but I don't think the Mercs did.
