What's something like this worth?

I found this car locally, it's very straight and just surface rust. Looks like the previous owner was going to make it a g***er, it's got a brand new front axle, leaf springs, and front wheels. It has an engine and auto trans, but I don't know what they are because the current owner won't let me open the hood. I do know the drivetrain is not hooked up, and the left header interferes with the driver's door opening. No interior. Some extra parts are inside the car (bumpers, etc).

What is something like this worth? I'd like to try to save it from being parted out, but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg to do it. My old lady would have my balls in a jar if I brought it home, and take the whole package if I spent too much on it.

Oh yeah, all the gl*** is there except the driver's side.

It's probably worth evey penny the guy wants for it! Sure looks nice in the picture.

I heard balls grow back in about twenty years. If you don't buy it you don't have balls anyway!

I wouldn't do the deal without opening the hood first. How do you know what it's really worth?

Looks to me like the hood is not fully closed anyway. If you really want it tell the guy to open the hood. Tell your wife you bought another car. Tell her there are plenty of cute young women who love to ride in old Chevy coupes.

Sitting outside in a field exposed to the Pacific North West elements with a broken window, surface rust, no interior, the door doesn't open, no drive shaft, and you can't open the hood to boot. I'd say $500.00 and be prepared to walk. I wouldn't ruin my home life for that P.O.S.

I don't ask permission to buy anything, if the money is right and I have it to spend without taking anything away from my kids, the thing is in my garage! I had to ask permission when I was a kid living with my mom, I,m a grown man now, at least in age. If the money is right you should buy it and wory about what she says later.

***le would make a difference, as would knowing what the drivetrain was and if the work that was done was done properly.

Just from what I can see, a grand.

When I started dating my girlfriend momma said it would never last. Maybe it won't. Be married 55 years this October and sometimes we argue! But if I say I'm gonna buy a car or parts she says "let's go get it."

If the current seller won't let you look under the hood, walk away. If he does and it's an engine you like, add up what it would cost to take a bone stock chevy coupe and put the axle under it. the wheels and tires... rear axle ( if not stock ) and if the engine is right ( fresh rebuild? junkyard turd? ) .... The grest deal price on just a body ( 500.00 ) or so - I would guess you would be in the 2-4k to replicte it... Take 1/2 that so 1-2 k - If you want a g***er....

There's enough room under the front fender to stick your head in and figure out what the motor is.
