When I joined the HAMB years ago, I was restoring a '60s show winning T bucket..... hence the name Mr T body. That car is done and gone, but the name stayed. I've been looking for another project car for a while, and finally found "the one". 1931 5 window standard coupe that's been sitting in the desert for 20+ years. NO RUST, and all original (block and frame #'s match). It's not perfect though.... the glass is all broken out, tires are flat and a mix of stock wheels and later KH wires. It was painted years ago with the best brush and house paint available, so the only issue is minor surface rust. It was important to get one with the original frame to keep the DMV nazis off my ass, as the drivetrain most certainly won't be stock and I hate dealing with smog. The plan is to box the stock frame, so as I start mentally building it I'll be posting all sorts of stupid questions and drawing on the collective knowledge of the HAMB. I've already put aside a NOS set of Sun gauges to fill the dash and am in the process of restoring a set of Hurst/Airheart calipers for the new axles. More vintage parts are planned... More details as things progress. I'll be dragging it home in the next couple weeks, so I'll post pics of the drive home. Guess I'll have to change my user name to Mr A body now......
Yeah, can you imagine how often he hears,"Hey Ryan, can you change my username." I've seen some pretty stupid usernames,,,yours ain't bad. HRP
Man, coulda gone all day without that visual. I'll keep the name, changing it was a half hearted attempt at humor, but it did give me some insight into what details HAMB'rs focus on.
sounds like a quality score on the new project! Need some pics. The artist formerly known as Mr T body.
Since Halibrands aren't in the budget, scored these 15x8.5 US Indys for $75/pair on Craigslist. I'm picking up pieces as I find 'em. 9" rear and 4" dropped I beam are next on the list to get going on the frame and suspension.
Sometimes we get a name and it works for many years. Guys at the factory where I pretended to work called me Model T because we often talked about Model T's and A's. But as the sun slowly rises and sinks we often switch cars or even hobbies. I haven't owned a Model T for at least 16 years but still use Model T as a CB handle and email name. Us T's are gonna just have to stick together and use what we've got. Recently a memo was out that user names can no longer be changed. Mine here is a lot better than on another site I'm on. I used Cat Model T, part of my email name. Guys there just call me Cat for short. I've seen user names a lot worse. That's a nice project Model A Mr. T.
Yea, we're talkin about you kid ! My buddy's CB handle was No Name. I kept telling him he had a name. It's No Name. But he'd kept saying he didn't have a name so he called himself No Name. ?????? There's a town a few miles away, across the Suwannee River, called Old Town. I keep asking the old people who live there what it was called when it was new! Earlier a member here was on and his name is Internet. This is getting confusing. I guess his username is internet and your internet name is username ??????
Yup I believe Ryan put the kybosh on changing your username years ago just for the simple fact that its a huge PIA
Man you south dry clime dudes got it made. Ain't many outdoor finds around here like that. I'll use a picture of my roadster as found for example.
lol!!! Hey it happens to us all. I have a 1936 Ford and still have the Whippet but lately "The Rabid Whippet" Should be the "Sleeping Whippet"!!! 13 months and not a wrench turned on it. But soon!!
I'd just keep the username. Next thing you know you'll sell this one buy a 32 and then you'll be going at it again. Can't go through the whole alphabet!!!!! Had a Buick when I did my username, now have a Mercury but I'm gonna' go with the flow! Good lookin car and I'm sure you're going to enjoy it!!!
