I don't know anyone who knows more about all of the car world in general than I do (I am not a spe******t, and anyone who is can kick my **** in the trivia for their specific field of knowledge) because I'm a car guy (like I say in the blog ***le) with a p***ion for all things with wheels and have learned a friggin ton about all makes and models, from all countries and eras.

If you can look through this entire test, answering about 80% of all the questions, and find the mistakes I've made.. I need to ask your indulgence for them because I don't have anyone with more knowledge than I have to proofread this test for accuracy, mistakes, and questions that a regular car guy wouldn't have a chance of knowing.

If you are that guru of the car guy world, PLEASE email me and help me make this test better! jbohjkl@yahoo.com

Pretty bold claim, considering the company you are in.

Hope the arm heals from the patting yourself on the back break.

13 posts since 2007? If you are the wizzard behind the curtain, why aren't you putting your obviously vast and overwhelming knowledge to good use and helping answer real tech questions?

I would think a true car guy test would be made up of day to day mechanical problems and solutions. example: correct sequence for torquing down heads or finding TDC. I know I tend to try and pick up infomation that will actually be useful to me when working on my car or friends cars, not to be able to out trivia them. just my 2 pennies.

The majority of the questions are about late 60 and 70s muscle cars, not 64 and earlier. Might work better on muscle car forum.

If you want a critique, I'd call it long, boring and redundant.

As an example, the question about the Cl***ic body builders was hard to read without eliminating the snobby input. A better version would be "What is a 'Coachbuilder' and how many can you name?"

What's the point of naming any of the thousands of Corvette and Mustang custom parts suppliers?

You also mentioned the same Hurst question worded different as well as the same Shelby question.

You asked, and FWIW many of us know as much or more than you think you know.

prewarcars4me, I'll answer YOUR test question. It's because justacarguy has spent all his time building his vast (half vast??) knowledge base and then putting that knowledge to work creating his manifesto.

These things are supposed to be fun, not a graduate school entrance exam. I quit before finishing, which is rare for me.

You could break it down into categories and have 3 or 4 short tests.

I don't think his statement was meant as bragging - I think he was saying he just doesn't have anyone with the knowledge or interest to find where he made mistakes - and why he has posted here that he needs help.

That being said - yeah, it's long and somewhat off topic. As mentioned, maybe several like-type quizzes would be better.

13 post since 2007, you must have spent all your time getting this information together . That does not mean you know anything about cars, you just know how to do the research for it. Have you ever got grease under your finger nails ?

  17. I believe that you are absolutely correct you are the most knowledgeable car guy on the planet. Let me be the first to bow down and kiss your feet.

Let me tell you a little story. When I was a little kid I was given a test and scored real high on it. I personaly think I just got lucky but that is a different story in itself. Anyway back to the story I was busy telling someone that I was real smart because they were dumb enough to tell me the results of the test. My grandad overheard me and told me that I should go out into the yard and talk to that tree back there. So being a little kid I did. I came in a little later and my grandad asked me what the tree had to say to me and I told him nothing tress can't talk. Then he asked me what kind of tree it was. I told him it was a cherry tree and he asked how I could possibly know that if it didn't talk to me. So I said because it has cherries on it. That was when he pointed out to me that if I was really smart i wouldn't have to tell anyone, they would just know.

Funny how that works isn't it.

And this statement shows you for the NON enthusiest you are.
"Name at least 6 types of rims, not rim making companies"
A "RIM "is part of a wheel, not a wheel unto itself,
you need a hub and a rim to construct a wheel, and in some instances a spoke set.
OH and i can answer every question, but wont give you the satisfaction.

I'd ease up on your statement of how fantastical you are in terms of general automotive knowledge, and then try to make this "test" a little more fun. Does it have to be a test, or can it be "automotive trivia"? I don't know anyone who gets excited about tests. I'd agree that breaking it up into categories might be of interest to the reader. Some questions seem vague or open ended, or they are a group of questions bundled together. Perhaps rephrase some questions so the answer is a few words, or a sentence. Some questions require an answer that's a paragragh long. The last statement about car companies being too stupid is unnecessary.
