Are the intake/exhaust manifold locator studs on a 235 head removable? I'm messing with the head on an extra 235 that I want to take them out for a homebuilt manifold I'm doing. Do they come out? I'd just like to know so I don't screw up a good head! thanks
If you are referring to the two out side studs that align the exhaust manifold, the answer is yes, they unscrew. Good luck.
Take an oxy/acet. or propane torch and heat them (the studs) up until red or close to red and then touch a wax candle to them, the wax will go down into the head and coat the threads and when it cools some use some vise grips to screw them out.
yes, but I would try the old "panther piss" of your choice first. let it sit a day then try to take it out. I will probably come out without heat. If not do as jalopy45 says. sounds like you are working on our side draft intake???
I never had a Chevy six apart. But i did have lots of GMCs apart and make a couple of manifolds for them. The intake on the Jimmie locates with rings at the port face. I just ran my intake tube through the flange to become the locating ring.
Yes sir, I am. Got the template made out of 14g. Finishing it up now. Then making the flange templates for the carbs and the tube ends. Taking them to Terry to get laser cut Saturday. Getting my concentric reducers next week as well. Then going to rock and roll!!
