I had the pleasure of following Chick from Hotrods and custom stuff to Felicity Park in Escondido yesterday in his "just finished" absolutely fabulous replacement 32 two door open top. Randy and Chick and the gang outdid themselves on this one.
We were heading to San Diego Deuce day, hosted by Chick and Paul Bundy. It was a great little show with superb guests, food and weather.

  2. Yup, that one works for me. The other wasn't bad either.

I really dont think so, but you'd have to ask Chick. Chick, are you out there?

    John,
Don't think Chick will get that smile off his face 4 a while.
On the other hand, ya gotta get Bundy to smile a little more.

Thanks for the kind words, John. Hope all from Havasu and Zurich enjoyed their time in Escondido this weekend. With Nitro Nite on Grand on Friday evening and Deuce Day on Saturday, I think the Swiss will be singing, "Only in America!!!!" for some time.
Regarding the whereabouts of "Bare Bones", not a trace anywhere on the planet.

That is one great looking roadster.

Don't want to make you mad but if it were mine that little "Tom McMullen" tribute tank would be long gone in a hurry. I'll never understand why guys with otherwise perfect Deuce highboys think those are a required element of a Deuce Highboy.

If you'd seen his other cars you might understand. Chick may not understand why you dig '48 Chevies, but he'd never question or criticize what you like. He's a gentleman that way.

That's a Pines-Winter front grill insert. They are a rare insert that has veins that move open and shut with the engine temp.

    Thanks.
I know about the winter grill fronts, but usually I'm not a fan of them. That one looks good.

The nit pickers have picked my truck apart many times.
my comment was more because I get so tired of seeing those Me too, I Wanna be one of the cool guys tanks stuck on just about every Deuce Highboy around. Most of them would look a hell of a lot better without them. I love everything about the car except the tank as the car doesn't need it.

We all have little car things that bug us and that is one of mine.

Look at it as a blonde , brunette , redhead thing then. We all have different taste in alot of things in life. Chick has liked those tanks forever like many others and in his , mine and many others opinion IT LOOKS GOOD or it wouldn't be there. As for the grille trim, if I remember correctly it is not a pines - but a custom made trim on an original style grille. Correct me if I am wrong Chick? The car is *****en!

    Mr48chev,

I am sure Chick did not build this car for you - he built it for himself. I have always felt that if I were at a car show, and I saw a car I did not care for, I simply walked on by without opening my mouth. I did not want to make myself look like a fool if the owner overheard me, or I somehow embar***ed him, or pissed him off with my comments. The car does not have to please you, it only has to please the owner. So after you saw the the first photos, you should have closed the link, shut your mouth, and left Chick alone. Keep these types of critcism to yourself. And yes, I have known Chick for over 20 years, but this applies to any car owner out there - I will support whatever you build, and if I do not like your car, I will not verbalize my feelings in any kind of open forum.

Note to Chick: morbones is a great follow-up to barebonz. Congrats.

  22. nice car, love the lay back on the windshield..... bummer about barebonz. glad to see another car out on the road....

Ok, I'll take my penance an go write "I'll not diss the Moon tanks again" 100 times on the inside of the shed wall. I do honestly think that it's one teriffic car and maybe just a bit better than the one he lost to the thief.

That's a pretty darn nice looking roadster! Those headers are pretty neat looking. I like the swoop on the primary tubes.

I want to see another side shot of the car. Anyone have one?

Edit: ...like one from a lower perspective. I really want to see the lean back of the windshield.

Haha, yeah, that's why I edited my post. That pic is taken by someone who's taller. It was just wishful thinking, on my part.
