so my buds and i have chopped cars before, grafted tailights on, etc.... and we think we might be up to the task of sectioning one of the newest toys (51 chevy).... were gonna do 3"... need to know a good book on this, or good place to get advice, ive seen PLENTY of diagrams, jsut would like something a lil more detailed..... or advice from anyone that wants to give it... car has no motor, trans, interior... so what better time?? also will be choppuin obvioously, 5" front, 7" rear, and will be cuttin out rear trunk area and some of rear floor to make room to SLAM it.... tower (NOT C) notch frame, etc.... sectioning scares me a lil, but anything can be done with time, patience, and intelligence... let me know guys
And when you call and order it you get to talk to Ron. I don't think there is a nicer guy in the whole world than Mr. Covell.
im dumb, didnt see the video on the site... im dumb, LOL.. how much is it?? this car needs to be DICED up, chop, section, channel, redone floors to accomodate SLAM job, cut up trunk, re-mount gas tank, damnit, sOOOOOO much metal work...
I'd rather would go for 1" if at all.Don't do this for the sake of sectioning.Do it to improve the look.
I agree with FrenZ...don't get greedy. Go to hotrodders.com...a guy did a tutorial of sorts with some real good ideas and things to look out for. He's right on with the task. Go to the knowledge cluster, it's in there. Pay special attn to the firewall detail he speaks of. Nice trick way of doin that part. Over-sectioned cars look funny and wrong. You can always cut out more to get where ya gotta be so be conservative. Good luck with it.
i love it when todd doesnt trust me...... i should go out there right now and take 3 inches out just to spite you. stop being sucha ****ing scardy cat.
Belive it or not, you can pick up a **** load by watching the Monster Garage 54 Chevvie build. Tape it if you have to, or buy the episode from Discovery. Between Winfield, Dean and Hines, they have probally sectioned hundreds of cars. Pay attention, you might be suprised at what you can learn. -Abone.
I agree with this - there was some good stuff in that episode. I have a copy of it I 'pirated', but it's on my computer. In fact, I'm such a nice guy that I'll burn it to CD or DVD for you and mail it to you if you PM me your address. Screw lining the pockets of Discovery Channel...
aint **** about not trustin yuou, fact is i wanna do LOTs of the work too.... and i dontr wanna do it twice, LOL.. think about how much we are cuttin this car up man... we need to sit down and plan this out... GET UP HERE!!!
oh, and for your information mr. "im scared to section it". i have the october 1958 issue of hotrod magazines artical on sectioning. relax, have a beer, and lets cut some **** up. oh ps. the bottom of your door is rotted out, so by sectioning it and cutting that door skin off and re folding it over the door body we will save the door pretty damn cool if you ask me.
If you've got a spare $154,000 you can go on West Coast Choppers web site under **** 4 sale and purchase that very vehicle.....hmmmm.... nope wallets empty
