A friend of mine has a FED he used to run in nostalgia drags. It has a flat head with 3 Stromberg's and mag Halibrand's. The ch***is is a Ch***is Research and it has a powerglide. It used to run 10.90's but has been sitting for about 12 years. Any ideas? He also has a Pinto drag car and a Model A used in the Great American Race for sale but he is unsure of value for those also.

It is not worth anything at all. I will be there to pick it up shortly so that it isn't in the way anymore.

Sitting 12 years didn't help the value much, but more info is definitely needed on the pinto. I would have to say, they are worth whatever someone is willing to spend, but if he sets a price he would be ok with O.B.O. then he can feel out the crowd to see what it might be valued to people who are interested. As far as an exact value, it would depend a lot on condition..if it needs tires and the engine is stuck, he is basically selling a ch***is. Price it out what it would cost to build and use that as a guide for setting your price...as parts, they are generally 1/2 of new price unless they are exceptionally clean or powdercoated and the new is a raw steel piece.

Prices can really vary. Were they owned by a "big name" driver, or are they just an unknown car built in someones backyard.

I don't know all the details. It is supposedly a genuine Ch***is Research ch***is. He used to run it 10 or 15 years ago. It has been up on a lift since he last ran it. It has mag Halibrands. He added a small radiator cause sometimes he didn't have anyone to tow him. The Pinto has an 8 point roll bar, 351W and a powerglide. I took pictures but don't know how to get them from my phone to my computer.

Like the fellow said "it depends" was the engine stored properly, was the entire car kept dry and away from varmints. I just bought a blown SBC that was ***embled and dynoed about 14 yrs ago. I dis***embled and inspected it (everything but removing the crank and cam, everything looked perfect and the valve springs were all between 150-160 on the seat (specs called for 155) the only parts needed were a new intake gasket. So.....it depends on condition, condition, condiition. If the ch***is and powertrain are all good, 5-6 thousand, more with a real quality built engine/trans/rear. When you start buying parts they add up fast. Just look at the price of a nice steering box and wheels, they're crazy over priced.

I took pictures with my dumb phone but I have no way to get them from the phone to the computer. The dragster was parked, improperly I believe, but up on a lift away from varmits. I guess I'll have to go over there with a real camera.

Does the car have a '40 ford truck rear end in it, my CR car has one in it. I'm working on mine now trying to get it ready to go racing after setting for over 30 years. I'll try to put up some pics.
