What a suprise to see that car on the cover and with a full Centerfold! I made the grille on it back in the late 1970's. The original hood sides that were on it when it won Watkins Glen are wall hangers in my ba*****t. I never knew the full story about that race until I read the AACA feature. Ford Flathead powered Special beat a 166 Ferrari! Bob :)

Stuff from the 60's for any car is slim pickings. You should go to Carlisle for that stuff. Hershey is mainly pre war parts. There is a good amount of 50's items, then it seems to really fall off for 60's and 70's items. There is dust on a lot of the parts older than the 60's. That being said, you never know what you will find at Hershey or any other flea market. You just have to put your time in.

I belong to a number of organizations and fully understand the need to support the sport so in retrospect should have phrased my question a little better.

What I was getting at is does membership provide you with materials (maps, vendor info etc.) for the event. Reason being if there is a place to sign up at or near the gate and receive the same material I would do that rather than join online and risk having the stuff show up in November

Sorry for the trouble as I realize this may be a question better put to the AACA.

Most of what you are listing is available in the program, like maps and such. Being a member doesn't get you much as way as preferencial treatment, just that you will be informed of what is going on. Give a call at 717-534-1910 and ask for Lynn. Tell her you are thinking of joining and would like a sample magazine and what a memebrship will get you. Tell her I sent you.

I have not seen this Hershey tip mentioned. It made a huge difference for me, and greatly increased the number of treasures I found over the 29 years that I went. I almost always walked the flea market fields with the crudest ripped piece of approx 12" x 18 inch carboard, hung from my neck with a sturdy piece of twine. In bold Magic Marker-I had the large heading:

"WANTED!" (followed by my general area of interest)
    RELATED ITEMS AND PARTS"

Must have found Hundreds of fantastic items, as vendors yelled at me, as I was about to p*** by. or, as I was browsing their tables. Items that were still covered up, in the back of their truck or van or in a box under a pile of stuff. Sometimes they even gave me contact numbers, for After Hershey, for great stuff, so rare & large, that they did not drag it to Hershey, and left it home. like engines etc.

    I could tell you STORIES!

Made some gas money at Kent yesterday, today is the day I start to drag out Hershey stuff. The internet sure has changed things all the good stuff gets sold 24/7, but there are a few bits to cover my section of blacktop. Bob

I dunno Bob, I think swap meets are makin a comeback. I hear so many folks telling me how sick of fleabay they are, how screwed up things get if you get ripped off, paypal theft, it's not the magic many thought it used to be. 4-5yrs ago you'd hear "I saw one on ebay for..." and now you almost never hear it. Then again maybe the few that got their toes broken (by accident:cool:) found it safer to keep their trap shut! We're also in another shift of generations, which is a nice way of saying the older gents are leaving us. Still viable for some to sell online, but the "romance" of the swap meet is reviving. That's what I've been seeing anyways...

Don't blame me, it poured ALL day today. Maybe it's just getting it out of it's system. All the road signs are up, show fields will be lined some day this week. Helping put the AACA tents up Sunday evening. Soon time for you guys to gas up and get on the road.

If you mean in the day parking lot, I don't think it would be a problem.

Looking at the Hersey Map, is there any differences between the Green Field, Chocolate Fields, and Orange Field.

You left out the RED field! I think the pedestrian walkway bridge is in the center of everything, both sides have about the same total number of spaces. I'm in the Clocolate C4J 41-42 and hit that field and the Red first, no way of really knowing were the border line is. Its all good, can't wait to be there. Bob :)

There are no special sections at Hershey. There are some areas where people ( clubs, orginizations) have grouped spaces so you may find areas that have the same kind of things. There is a high concentration of race car stuff behind the old staduim. The Chevy club guys are in one area. ect.
Hershey Region just sells the spaces as they come. You get the same space every year. "If the space is available to them". Hershey corporate sometimes changes the lay of the land.

I've know about Carlisle and Hershey since I was a kid from reading dad's Hemming's, Old Cars Weekly, Street Rodder and so on. I have always wanted to go to either one.

Maybe next year i'll set up a booth and rent those motorized rascal scooters is see on tv -- god knows I could use one, now.

Another thing...recent construction and paving scrambled all traditionally held spaces at least twice in several years, adding extra randomness and breaking up some neighborhoods that had emerged over the years. Random, random, randow except tiny race car area (and you can be sure that there are LOTS of racecar people elsewhere) and a few clusters where a bunch of people with same interest managed to get a group of spaces side-by-side.

You have to have a window sticker to get into a flea market field. The only way to get a sticker is to be a vendor and the sticker is only good for the field your space is in. Chocolate field stickers are brown, red field red, etc.
