Well, the time has come to get my windshield out of my 59 galaxie.
(Yes Im STILL working on it)

before I really mess things up I thought I would ask the fine men and women of the HAMB for some advice.

    So what have you?
Should I take the stainless trim off first? Or just cut the gasket from the inside and CARFULLY push it out? Then take off the trim.

Once again, any helpfull hints, tips, or tricks are welcome.
    thanks

Yep - and have a helper or two on hand. If the windshield has any chips it is VERY easy to crack. The more of the seal you can remove, the better the chance of getting it out in one piece.

Figure out a way to store it before it is out of the car - they are odd ******s to store somewhere safe and out of the way.

on my 49 olds it is impossible to remove the trim without removing the seal. just take a razor knife and cut the rubber away from the gl***.

if the trim is in the rubber you need to leave it in until you get the window out. cut the rubber on the inside lip then push it out

  8. Be gentle with it....old gl*** is fragile ...it is not an absolute solid , and moves it's whole life, a strange and amazing substance.
My friend, who removed the windscreen from my 60 Belvedere, asked me to come and get it, as he didn't want the responsibility of having it around while taking care of some body work for me.I went to pick it up and whilst putting it in the car the corner of it tapped the edge of the trunk........very lightly but....it was enough.
The replacement was by far the most expensive part bought for the project!
