Here's a link to some pictures of the model A at this years speed week,we managed to claim 2 open records, the salt was bumpy and made the car a bit squirrely.Max speed in the flying mile was 138 mph. http://groups.msn.com/Cadillac500
Nice job!...I have some film of you guys in tech as they had you pulling the drivers side valve cover.
I have a handful of pix that I can email you guys on Sunday. Tell the story about the record and checking your cylinders. Chris Nelson Kansas
so, you guys got the record. I went around trying to find you, but you kept disappearing, or I'd see you and we'd be doing something on the roadster. The 2 times I saw the car sitting still, you weren't around. If you got it, congrats. sounded wicked thats for sure
Yup there's quite a chain of events leading up to our first record,I qualified for the record on my very first run down the salt(rookie run) the car was fishtailing the whole run but I managed to keep it straight and get down the course to get a 85mph average,we get to impound and check the toe in on the front wheels,we find that there is over 1.5 inches of toe in which might explain the lack of control,we reset it to 1/16 toe in by cutting down the steering cross shaft with a hacksaw to get enough adjustment.Next morning we get to impound at 6.10 am,the first thing we have to do is get the motor started and warmed up thoroughly.I go to crank over the engine and the starter motor takes a **** and the nose cone cracks in half,I don't know how many times I said F*CK,one of the officials saw what had happend, next thing I knew Mike Cook was handing me his spare starter,we threw it on and got out of impound with minutes to spare. The car ran straight on the return run and went 127mph.Next we had to go back to impound and have the motor measured ,JD tone measured it and it came out to 517ci ( 60 over cad 500) It definately keeps the excitement level up,I'm looking forward to some smooth salt in October at the world finals.
