I am looking for suggestions on how to lock a rumble lid in the open position. Something mechanical and easy to operate, but incon****uous, if possible. I already have seat belts so keeping it looking original does not out way safety. Thanks.

FYI, This is for a Henry 1932 Ford 3W coupe with the later style rubber stops and still using the counterbalance and springs to open with the remote latch.

I read your "about me" intro. Obviously, not a mechanical engineer. (LOL) So, to hold the trunk lid open there a number of solutions. One would be the simple "stick". Anotehr would be to research, at salvage yards, the various hood/trunk props that extend, but hold up under the pressure of the lid. Easy to close. Check out the yards for other ideas.
I am sure others will jump in to offer other, likely better, solutions.

Just for clarification, I am not a mechanical engineer though I already have some ideas myself, but I am interested in what other people might have come up with too. Something that might have some hours of "testing". No need to re-invent something, if someone already has come up with a good solution.....

As for the counterbalance and spring, this is more for opening the lid since there is no external handle. It does offer some resistance when closing the lid, but not enough to keep it open on a hard stop.

Could an additional leg be welded to the hinge (top or bottom) and then a pull pin installed when open?

and if you wanted to get fancy you could add it to the back side of the bracket

Might have some merit though my hinges are not the original cast iron, but the repro aluminum cast ones. I was thinking of maybe attaching something to the drip rail like spring steel or a catch of some sort, though the drip rail is not as strong as the inner hinge bracing.

BTW, those are pictures of a 5w/Roadster hinge. Mine is similar but they are a little different.
