does anyone have good advice for a battery charger/trickle charger in-one? Does this exist. What I want is a single unit that acts as a trickle charger (like a battery tender) and a charger and a jump starter as well. Am I asking for too much? Just seems that it would be great to have something that does all 3 functions. My 56 doesn't like to start if it sits too long.... and a trickle charger would help that. Seems like the same unit that could act as a jump starter would be a nice feature as well. Anyway.... looking for anything others have found at Snap On, Sears, Harbor Freight, etc. that may do what I am looking for. Otherwise, I am going out this weekend and buying a bunch of different battery "stuff" and maybe a new battery too.
HF got some ,and also has a working trickle and i charge with it in the start posisition but the car start posisition is no help for starting, i got 2 to do 24 volt about $36 and not worth a penny more
"battery tender plus" is a helluva unit for trickle charging and charging.. Sorry no jump start.. I use one on my boat and keeps both my marine deep cycle batteries charged even when it sits 3 or 4 months.. There like $50 at auto zone and Wally world etc..
Here is a link... It comes with a cable you can mount permanently on your battery and just plug into the unit when needed... http://batterytender.com/battery-tender-plus-12v-at-1-25a.html
Sears sells a Battery/tender that they put on sale often this time of year for roughly 20 bucks on sale. I don't think it will work as a hot shot jump starter but it will charge a dead battery pretty quickly and my car can sit for six mos with one hooked up and it's topped off when I want to start it. Watch the sale papers and pick up a couple. With a tender I doubt that you will ever need jump starter again.
You might want to check Battery Brain. Be thorough because there appear to be four variations. Like remote etc. I had battery drain every three days just sitting - 460 powered motor home. In stalled it a couple of weeks ago. Has stopped what ever the parasitic drain was. I still have to find it, but is is not on the top of my list. You also might have a bad / failing battery. Good luck.
I have been using the Battery Tender brand on a couple of my rods with good success. I have heard they are not friendly with Optima batteries, which I use. Anyone have any opinions or facts on this?
I realize a lot of people use them without problems, but I've always had a thing about leaving things like that plugged in unattended. Just a personal thing.
Got a solar Powered tender ($29.00) for my sisters OT Nissan which sits idle for 4-6 months out of the year, but just installed it in June so don't have any results.
These work great, free shipping and cheap. http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tende...=1349635608&sr=8-1&keywords=battery+tender+jr
Same here. Two Optima Yellow Tops in my old 4x4. Use one double-charger Deltran unit for the truck and it's worked fine for the last year.
