Thanks for having me in your group. I will be a good boy. My wife & I had a 55 gasser when we married in 1975. we sold it a few years later. We would like to find that car now. I have turned over every rock I can find and no luck. So I ask for your help. The vin.# is cold so out of the country, scraped or setting in a back yard waiting for us.
Not more Trash from Yucaipa LOL just kidding welcome to the board. I grew up in Yucaipa left ther in 1968 up in Wash now. I do get back a few times a years now great place to grow up back in the Day
If you put me to work I'll move north. Looks like your a GC, need a good electrican. I rode through your area a couple years ago. Very nice. Mike
I been lookin for my dads old 55 and cant find it either. All the title bureau could tell me was its still licensed somewere in ohio. Hope you find yours!
I don't blame you for wanting it back 55 Gassers have been cool long as I remember. They seem to be in the middle of a fad or latest rage ( to me anyway) Seems you see a lot more of them these days? But wait maybe that cuz of the internet Any other peculiar marks to be on the look out for? I will be at Calif Hot Rod Reunion. Being I have always been a 55 guy I check em all out.
We ran on Bryant all the time. We also ran on San Timoteo canyon. Did you have auto shop with Vern Casper. Good guy. How about Cy Barnett from Cy's auto parts.
my dads 55, he ran high 11s on the street back in 68, 409, super t t0, 488s, sold it when he left for Vietnam, by the time he got home, spending 6 months in the hospital he went to find the car, kid he sold it to, blew the motor, put another motor in and totaled the car....my grandfather had abody shop for over 50 years and all body work done in lead, at one point had entire roof flowing in moulton lead to smooth it out... here it is lifting a wheel in the shift into second, before putting all mouldings on etc after paint
sick 55 you had....if it isnt likely you will find it, build another....do everything you had done and all the stuff you had hoped to!
I had Vern Casper as Drafting class also and lived next door to cy Barnetts brother on Douglas street Yucaipa was a great place to grow up
Good luck finding it 55's as stated are definitely cool. Age catch up to mine in the late seventy's. Would up putting the frame under another 55 at the time. http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g441/jschev56/55ChevyStr /IMG]
Thanks guys, I realy like all of your cars. It gives me hope that I may find it with your help. I really don't have the funds to have 2 hotrods, but if this car turns up it will happen. Mike
A good friend has one toss me the keys one night Damm Damm I have driven some fast cars but thats a weapon
It does run. We put 15k + miles on it since April 2011. All weekend miles, well some of the drives take 6 or 8 days. Just hope I dont die in it. Mike
Back to the top. Let's find this car. Anyone see the black 55 gasser with red top and I think red window tint that was at the Havasu Rockabilly car show. Mike
