On a hunt for vintage tin this weekend, we found an old Diamond T truck we thought would make a cool hauler/retreiver truck and we were wondering the year (or approx. year)?. Any ideas?
Wow! A cab over and relatively short wheelbase Diamond T. Maybe a 2 1/2 tonner? Not common. Diamond T built everysort of truck ( no 1/2 ton pick ups though) In "The Pictorial History of American Trucks" by Niels Jansen on page 62 is a photo of a 1948 S-Type that looks the same. Styling didn't change much from year to year so it could be a little older or newer. Those wheels look cool but they are stunningly heavy. Plus split rims give me the willies. That would make an excellent anything. Diamond T's are so fine.
"American Truck Spotters Guide" identifies it as "A late 40s'". 1945 would have painted trim and bumper instead of chrome.Body style was the same from '45 to '49 so it's a '46 to '49. With a model number could probably tell the exact year.
I own two Diamond T's in my bunch-a-junk One IS a pick-up-1938 80 Deluxe The info your looking for is at http://www.diamondtclassics.com/ That is a really nice example. Thank you for showin' it to us
The wheelbase is 144", we measured it for trailering purposes. That can't be much more than a modern crew cab/long box dually. Hmmmmm....would make a cool roll back.
Nice truck and I can'r recall ever seeing a COE and I'm really into trucks. Get it out of the field before the Red River floods again!
Newbe here, the truck posted above is a Diamond T 504sc. Mid 40's to early 50's. I myself have just been given a 1948 Diamond T 504sc from a friend for free !! And it runs ! Here is some pictures of it in his back yard...... Here's one restored in a flatbed configuration......
T's had Custom frame mods 50 years before Plasma cutters. Unfortunately this one will be reborn as a fridge or washing machine some day.
