Working on my 28 sedan and usingg a 71 Chevy truck column with the curved plug in. Since I will not be using this plug in I am trying to figure out what color goes where. I have Purple Blk/yellow Green Blk/white Black Blk/lt blue Blue Brown Any decoding of the colors would help Thanks much Gear.....
In the back of Haynes CHEVROLET & GMC PICK-UPS Repair Manual 1967 thru 1987 are wiring diagrams. The curved plug is labelled DIR. SIG. CONN. The purple wire goes to fuse panel. The Yellow wire goes to the tailight harness connector The green wire goes to the taillight harness connector The brown wire goes to the fuse panel The blue wires go to the cluster connector. Having the repair manual in front of you and seeing the curved wire connector labelled will let you know what goes where.
Well I am using a Keep It Clean harness and there are wires that come out to meet the column wires. I need some more detail on all eight of those wires. Thanks
Here is the pic of the DIR. SIG. CONN. You asked for info on BLK wires with diff colors that aren't in the illustration. One of the two LBL wires goes to the Bulk Head Connector. The other goes to the Cluster Connector. Sometimes I've found it hard to see the real colors of the wires unless they are cleaned first. The Mustg II column on my "Special Constr" car has ten wires coming out of the plug. At 35 years old, it was difficult to determine their color and the stripe color on them, until I cleaned them with solvent. I used a Rebel Wire 9 + 3 Hot Rod Harness and every wire does what it is suppose to. I had to call Rebel to get some clarification.
bustingear, had a look in my Haynes manual, and it's a little hard to make out. But here goes: black/light blue..............left front signal and indicator dark blue......................right front signal and indicator black...........................horn ****on black/yellow..................left rear signal dark green....................right rear signal black/white...................feed from brake light switch purple..........................power to signal flasher brown..........................12v Hope this is helpful, not sure on the brown wire, but this will get you close enough.
Yes thanks exactly what I needed. I like you am perplexed by the brown wire. Cerberus thanks for your efforts a well.
