OK a short introduction: I have build a basket case '30 five window Ford 350 Chevy TH350 and a '35 Chevy sedan delivery. 350 Chevy, B&M blower, from a pile of s****.

But: I really don't want to chop up the new 1946 tudor super deluxe with a Chevy 305 engine that I just picked up I have a killer 1500 sq foot shop and love to work on cars. So I'm not exactly new to hot rods.

Problem the Vega steering box in the '46 Ford is shot and it almost touches the tight tuck headers anyway. So I pulled the box, and tried a big GM power steering box, with a rams horn exhaust, no room...Looked a Flaming River Vega box, they say it is NOT recommended for cars over 3000 lbs.

    Options that come to mind:
    Monza exhausts low $
Trick headers that I don't know about. low $
Move the engine 2 inches forward, which might not work anyway.
    Will a 605 box fit? low $
    Mustang II suspension. big b$

I am open to all suggestions.

I run a gm power box with a ram horn Exhaust.
but the manifold came off the p***inger side of a truck and on the drivers side it is angled to the front.
Then I had a 180 bent in the pipe to send it out the rear of the car.and it has worked for over 10 years now.
    Hope this helps

Thanks. a right hand manifold on the left side is a good idea, maybe i could wack the drop off it and weld it back on pointing back??? I also thought about a monza manifold they had a front dump too. I will try the right side tomorrow morning. Thanks again. I'll post pic's when it is mocked up...

Use the GM Saginaw 525 steering box. It will bolt right up to your vega mount and was designed for mid sized GM cars...

Thanks chop top, I will look up the 525 series and see how it fits.

When you have a new meg welder, everything needs to be welded!
