Welcome from New York. There are some threads on the long roofs if you do a search . Now why don't you tell us something about yourself and your car(s).
Sorry if it was weak. On deployment and Internet time is at a premium. My current ride is almost too new for me but I couldn't pass it up as I love old wagons. 1964 Plymouth valiant V100. Slant six with a homemade version of dutra duals, Offy 4bbl intake and an Edelbrock 500cfm manual coke carb. Big bolt pattern conversion with front disc brakes. 1 1/8 front sway bar. Oh yeah 904 trans but waiting to put my 4 spd in until shore duty rolls around. I have to keep it somewhat civil so the wife can drive it but I really can't wait to put in my Mopar Purple bumpstick. Anyone know where I can find some fender skirts for this old girl?
Deploymeny, eh? Okay, so we can cut you a bit of slack. I, and others, will offer you a welcome and a thank you for service. This assumes that your "deployment" is based onm the U.S. military(?). Fill us in a bit on your status, MOS, although, I understand that term is no longer used. One more thing, your intro....."rat rod" is absolutely the best way to get flamed here. A rat rod is the same as a shit box. Do more reading before you go much further.
Yep, active duty. Aviation electrician, that's about all I can tell ya. And yes most rat rods are just as you described. I however like the look. Not sure why. I was thinking of new repop 32 rails and a steel 4 door bucket. All patina'd with salt lemon and satin clear. Atomic efi, 6al box and a t6 behind an old fashioned six cylinder. If I get flamed for that so be it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it will never fly with the boss till the wagon is finished. And my vintage Honda cafe bikes all move under their own power. Oh god, am I gonna get flamed for liking vintage import motorcycles? Anyway, a fellow sailor turned me on to this site, saying it was all about the things we both liked. I shall read on. Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for being appreciative of those that serve. America needs more people like you.
