So my friend is fabricating a custom radiator for his t bucket project. The link should take you to a couple pics on our blog site. The radiator core must fit in the 1927 Whipet Grill shell he is using. He has deepened the shell by about 3". He read about the "heatsink radiators" that were fabricated from individual tubes in a honeycomb arrangement. Specifically he is looking for engineering info to determine tube wall thicknesses, spacing, etc. Anyone know anything about those radiator cores, or where to find the info ? For those wondering, he is cooling a 1956 354ci hemi with a 2spd powerflight. The trans will be cooled by 2 separate coolers. No a prefab radiator will not be used, it's just the way he is doing it. Thanks to those in the know.

  2. Been talked about here many times. Smokey even was building one 5 years ago. The company in Street Rodder quit doing them I believe.

Looked into one in 02,the guy i believe use to or worked with br***works.I called to inquire about it and the turnarround time was really long so i opted for there 4 core instead. At the time the 4 core was 800 and the sponge was north of 1k.So far the 4 core has been great. Not shure if its still offered but i heard its not.

This is probably one of those "If you can't say something nice then you shouldn't say anything at all" moments...but that link sent me to a place that looked like someone was building a motorized Teapot ride for Disneyland.

Yes those are both his. There is always a swarm of people around his rides, either wanting to know more or studing his engineering solutions. No belly ****on rides for him, or any of the other *******s, for that matter. The 39 Ford in your pic is another *******s ride. It was built in 1971 and sits on a 50 Cadillac ch***is. The nose was stretched to fit.
Anyway we have learned the correct name is Heat Sponge Radiator, they are no longer made for an ***ortment of reasons. Chrome will build his, but is looking for engineering specs

OK, Without turning this into a novel (working on that ! ) can any radiator guys still find the "7" row cores ? staggered in a 4/3 pattern, really helped cool a sprint car .(gas fuel, not alky)
same issues here, narrow frame etc. cost was about $350. back in 91...I think the rad guy said it was from a john deere tractor. one core cut down made 2 or 3 rads.
    good luck

I am having Steve Long build my radiator for a Whippet shelled Model A with 350 Chevy. His number is 317-247-7605.
