Projects Ever use a spray in truck bed liner?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oldfart, Oct 9, 2012.

  1. The 60 Elky bed is rusty.Must all of the rust be removed before using a spray on bedliner?
I've searched for a heavy rubber mat but have not found one that fits so maybe a spray on liner is the answer? Any other ideas?

  2. Yes ALL rust has to go. I don't like it for pickup beds. I use it for floors and interior surfaces.

our shop has used a product called Raptor bed liner. the neat thing about it is you can tint it body color. very durable, and a nice looking finish.

  4. it also works well under fenders to keep the paint the rock stars off of them.

Old fart the rust needs to go away or the bed will continue to run under the bed liner, if the bed liner seals perfectly then that is a different story but you cannot depend on it to seal perfectly.

Take a wire brush on a drill and knock all the loose stuff off, treat it with rust mort and spray with a catalyzed liner like raptor. Should last a long time. We have done several beds at our shop like this over the years.

Use them all the time in fleet trucks for the consrtuction supers. They work well. Clean everything and apply per manuf. specs.
I am using it under all of the fenders and inside the bed of my 56, for all the reasons mentioned above.

A heavy rubber mat will just trap moisture (it rains there, right?) and destroy the bed.
Look for a good spray on.....
