I am 28, husband and father of two kids. Loved cars most of my life but never had anyone else around me that did. It started with lowriders and later added imports. (Hate me for the imports if you want but they have motors and go fast too!) I own a 95 toyota celica (running) and have a few other non-running vehicles. The one I know I will keep is a childhood fave, 1951 gmc pickup. I did just buy a 1957 chevy 3100 which I saved from going to the scrap yard. That will be my winter project this year. (More about that one later) My personal philosophy for fixing old cars like that is if it close to original then restore to original. If it is in pieces or been messed with in any significant amount the build it how you want it. I pretty much love any hot rod, rat rod, import, ect. Shoot, a motor in a rolling frame is good enough!
Welcome. A word of warning. Remove import and rat rod from your vocabulary or these guys will eat you alive.
Thanks guys. Yeah, I know rat rod and import are considered horrible things here. I can definitely respect the pattern of traditional here. I pretty much read posts more than I would post too. I only speak when I have to or when using search just isn't cutting it. (Though I do plan on sharing my build of the 57 chevy I just bought. It Is so close to original that I want to restore back to original. Of all things though it has a dodge 318 motor in it. I never understood mixing companies motors around like that)
