I've got a 51 Styleline Deluxe 2 door sedan. It has Fatman 2" dropped uprights and 1.25 cut coils. I want to reduce body roll and improve the ride. It had Monroe Sensa Tracks 5751 shocks. I was thinking these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KYB-KG4503/SuggestedParts/?prefilter=0 I searched 54 Chevy and these are tagged for a corvette, Im pretty sure the suspension is all the same. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks guys.
Pete and Jakes makes shocks for lowered cars and trucks - http://www.rjays.com/Pete_Jakes/PJ_Shocks-01.htm
How much is your car lowered and any chance you can link me to the product? My coils arent drastically cut, so a stock shock "may" work. But i'd like advice from those who know more about this than I.
Here is a link to the rears.. Fronts are the same but different mounts.. My car lays frame and lifts 15" "bagged" http://www.ridetech.com/store/rear-shock-kit.html
That car is awesome man!!! I love it! I dont think those shocks will work for my application. My car is pretty much stock. I want to go to a mono tube shock. Im pretty sure 54 "Corvette" shocks will suit my needs. The coils are only cut 1.25 and the dropped uprights shouldnt even come into the equation.
We are very close to releasing a new series of replacement shocks for people in your same position. All we need to do to get you set up with the correct shock is answer 3 key questions. Shock mount distance at drive height? Top shock mount stud or eye? Style of driving? Cruiser, Street & Perf, Race? I attached a little shock info video also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD2Ah68xG9M
I have sensa tracks on my 54, from a mid-80's g-body, and it rides fine for me. Mines lowered about 5" front and rear. As far as body roll, you'll have to find a bigger diameter sway bar and/or add one to the rear.<O</O
