I'm looking for someone to transport a car from east coast to west coast a.s.a.p. I have a quote of $1000 and I would like to try and get it cheaper than that. help greatly appreciated.
****. 1000 seems very reasonable. Diesel is just under $5 a gallon out here. That's buys you 200 gallons of fuel. Sounds like a deal to me. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Thats very cheap....friend had a car shipped from Green Bay to San Francisco, that was $2300....a buck a mile...you are getting 3 miles a buck...
Having transported quite a few cars, I offer some free advice. Be very carefull on the cheap guys. They promise quick delivery, but the car takes weeks to show up. The promises evaporate very quickly and the excuses begin. They often off load your car somewhere in the middle of the country, wait for the next shipper to take it and days become weeks! If the car is worth shipping from coast to coast, bite the bullet and go with a reputable guy. Good luck
Yeah, and there are several reliable & reputable guys listed in the Hamb-O-Dex but don't expect them to work for nothing. HRP
Good advise, thanks guys. The transport guy is actually and great local guy and I've used him a bunch of times, it's just tough to shell out that kind of dough. I was hoping someone would have an empty slot on a big rig or maybe be coming out to California Hot Rod Reunion.
East coast - Florida to new Hampshire or Canada maybe West coast - California to Alaska or Mexico maybe That's pretty wide range. Want to narrow it down on the maybe ?
That price is very good considering what you are asking. I've seen way higher prices for less of a trip.
$1000 sounds almost "too good to be true". I've always heard that if it sounds too good to be true... it usually is. just sayin'
I shopped for a high quality shipper back in January. Enclosed double decker, air ride, insured, and boded carrier was $1870 From Phoenix to the little town of Winchester, M***achusetts. Car arrived, PERFECT CONDITION, not a speck of dirt on it, no apologies. The lowest price has always brought me regrets. I don't mind paying up for the best transporter I can find. For a tag around $1000 I'd be very cautious about this outfits capabilities and I would want lots of references. Fuel prices might also enter the equation on you as a "Fuel Surcharge", after the fact.
Seems to cheap to me, I just shipped a car from LA to Wilmington NC, and It was a whole lot more than that. Be careful.
$1000. is basically the exact cost of fuel. You want someone to transport it for free. What could go wrong.
I have seen the light! I'm just going to happily pay the $1000 and stick with the guys who I have always used and trust.
Just a little real time info... Just went from Fort Lauderdale to Monterey Ca, 3127 mi @6mpg= $2691.00 in just fuel. Our dually w/enclosed trailer just barely got 10 mpg= $1287.00 in fuel. When we ship show or race cars it is Reliable or Intercity...I don't want to say money is no object but usually it isn't!!! However their rates on major traffic lanes are pretty reasonable
