I'm working on setting up the frame for my 30 Model A tudor. I have a frame here at my house, but my body is up at my father-in-laws. I want to work on the frame and get the "Z" put in the front, but i need some dimension help. I need dimensions from the front cross member to the firewall of the body, so I know where to put the Z so it is hidden in the cowl. Any pictures/ suggestions on where to Z the frame and how much would be greatly appreciated! I'm running a 8BA flatty too, so pictures of a stock A frame with flatty would help greatly! Thanks!
thanks chopt top. That drawing has great dimensions! I still need a dimension to where the cowl sits on the frame. Do you know where a guy can get that?
Does anyone know if the dimensions of where the coupe firewall sits on the frame is the same as the tudors? http://1929fordhotrod.com/johnsblog/1928-31-model-a-ford-frame-dimensions/
The first 1/2" bolt hole on the top of the frame after the front crossmember is where the foot of the firewall mounts. "Z"ing a frame without the body present is asking for problems if you ask me though. But, thats just me. Sent from my Droid powered Samsung Galaxy S
Before Zing anything.......motor type, radiator placement, dist.location are all factors to keeping the Z inside the firewall. You may find your body moving back on the frame to allow for these factors.Measure twice.......cut once! Having the body on hand is good advice.
