Due to a very small space i can't use a conventional battery on my modified. I am thinking about a pair of those 6v optima - behind the cab, under the gas tank, one battery on either side of the driveshaft. Any other suggestion?
Braille batteries are very small. Here's a line of them: http://www.summitracing.com/search/?keyword=braille&dds=1
Big Crank batteries are pretty much the same as Brailles without the price tag. http://batteries.batterymart.com/search/index?query=big+crank&Search.x=0&Search.y=0
Isn't that a motorcycle battery? Would it be OK in a car? Any drawbacks with using one?---I LOVE the size of it
Do you have experience with it? Need special charger? How about a trickle chrger/battery minder, will they work? These are very light and can be mounted in any fashion, right? Thanks, oj
Braille Model B3121 specs: Volts - 12 Volt Battery Terminals - Top and side Battery Type - AGM Cranking Amps at 0 Degrees F - 550 amps Cranking Amps at 32 Degrees F - 742 amps Reserve Capacity - 75 minutes Length (in) - 6.600 in. Width (in) - 5.200 in. Height (in) - 6.800 in. Weight - 21.000 lbs
Get the Odyssey. I've got one in my 32 Tudor under the rear seat. It works GREAT. No special chargers needed, can mount in any position except upside down. Cranks my big flattie just fine. BTW, weighs about 11 lbs.
I use one of these OJ. Cranks the 401 no problem. I use a standard trickle charger on it. I think the manufacturer would like you to buy their charger but mine is 3+ years old and still going strong. Mine is mounted on its side up under the dash on a swing down panel. Mount them any way but upside down I believe. Pete
I have an Odyssey 925 in my T. A bit pricey at $194, I believe, but its been in there 6 years and still works great. I've parked out side at 7 degrees for over an hour and not noticed any change in cranking. Typical 355 Chev in a T-bucket. BIll
I run the Odyssey 925 in my A crankin over a dual quad 389 with no problems what so ever! You can find them on line around $130, pretty simmilar to the price of a big ol optima!
I bought an Odyssey PC925 six years ago...Kept stored on a float-charge type Battery Tender until last Nov '11...Finally put in in the roadster and it cranks just fine ..car sits weeks at a time ,cranks every time. They are kinda pricey now ( What ain't??) but, Battery Mart has about the best price and free shipping http://www.batterymart.com/p-odyssey-pc925L-battery.html You can mount it any way ,except upside down, Mine has the metal jacket. They can be ordered with the terminals reversed if you need it
Miata batterys are pretty small, AGM, 12v, vented outside, and can be found at any O'reillys etc. They are trunk mounted OEM. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/s...p?model=Miata&vi=1190933&year=1995&make=Mazda
2X for Miata batteries - cheap and small. But those others are super nice and so small you can put them anywhere
Good idea as long as you're not running too much compression. The Miata batteries are only 320 CCA. Perhaps great for a banger!
Look at Performance Distributors "Dynabatt" . I have had three of them in two rods over the years and they work fine and last at least 5years. One of mine lasted 8 .I think it's the same as the other solid state small batteries. The one in my roadster fits right inside the rear fender well.
When I put a larger fuel tank in the P.U. bed of my roadster I needed a smaller battery. I went down to Wallmart and got the smallest one they had. I think it's for a Honda. About $60 and if you don't have a real high compression engine it works fine and if and when it goes bad there is a replacement around the corner.
And $200-$300 batteries last forever? I've never had a Wallmart battery last less than it's warranty.
It cranks a 377" 10:1cr sbc just fine. I have a Battery Tender for it but I've never needed to charge it. The car sits for a month sometimes and the battery still has enough charge to do it's thing. The battery weighs about 15 lbs and can be mounted in any position except upside down.
Agree. I am using one in my SBC powered tub and it works great. I don't know that it has the reserve power to grind and grind on the starter but if everything else is working properly it is fine.
Perhaps things are different out by you. I didn't come up with the Neverstart name, it's well known out by me. I learned the hard way, I replaced 3 Neverstarts in 1 summer. The O/T vehicle had no electrical issues, it just needed a battery. I put an Interstate in it and problem solved. On the flip side, WalMart did replace all 3 batteries, no questions asked. I guess they know as well.
