Thanks for the info! I ran the numbers and it's saying 170. I'll look further and get the numbers off the engine itself. Maybe someone painted the tins at one time... or swapped the engine. Who knows? Thanks again.
Did some Googlin'... According to this I have the 170. Identification Ford's Small Six engine family members featured, until 1964, cast-on identification codes. These codes -- an "N" for 144 engines and a "T" for 170 engines -- were cast on the road draft tube mounting boss. After 1964, Ford started using metal tags to identify engines. Printed on these tags were the engine's displacement; the model year; its change level; the date it was manufactured; and its engine code number. Other Differences The 144 could be identified by its stock color scheme -- a blue valve cover and air cleaner, and a black block. Before 1965, the 170 featured an orange valve cover and air cleaner with a black block; from 1965 onward, it was identical to the 144 color scheme.
Thanks! I'm enjoying it... Here's some more info I found. The push ****on radio is original according to this. http://www.falconclub.com/Pages/1960Tech.htm
I second that! Without the guys on TFFN, my bird wouldn't be where its at, today. They are ALWAYS helpful
Very cool............I had a '64 1/2 Mustang in my youth with the 170 engine and 3 speed trans. Red valve cover and air cleaner with black block. I believe these have solid and not hydraulic lifters.......starting with 200 they were hydraulic (I think).
For sure, I look forward to seeing this move along. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Wow - that's sweet. I like the way you gloss right over the FORD Dealer installed A/C - that's a really scarce piece in those cars! Deluxe trim...so decked out but came w/out a roof rack? If your original A/C will get going with just a couple of parts replaced, try these guys - I have heard good things from Mustang and other Ford owners trying to keep it stock, but having trouble finding replacement parts: http://www.cl***icautoair.com/?q=FORD_OEM_Parts.html
Very nice I love mine.If you need parts let me know I keep everything I pulled off while building mine
