When I put the Y block back in my 55 I am not going back to 6 volts,I know reproduction 6 volt batteries are made but does anyone know if there is a 12 volt version made. A Honda civic battery fits the hold down but I would like a period looking battery if possible.
I contacted a couple reproduction battery companies to see what they can do,I was thinking about making a battery tray to accept a 56 to 64 battery until I looked at the prices and then thought maybe that new battery does not look that bad. One company has vintage looking batteries that are not show correct which would work just fine but waiting on if they have one that would work.
Relocate the battery to the trunk. You end up with more space under the hood and you wont see the ugly battery everytime you open the hood..................win/win.
get a black battery decca ,interstate classic series ect have a sticker shop cut some letters most people wont notice Paul Jug
I did the same thing for a 1931 Chrysler. Scraped off all the new looking stickers and had the Willard one made. Check Jim Osborne Reproductions for stickers.
I have found someone who makes a battery the same size as the original 6 volt and looks like a 6 volt but is 12 volts,at 245.00 I think I will pass and look for someone to make stickers.
Another company contacted me about a 12 volt battery in a 6 volt case and even is more expensive at 260 dollars.
