One of the last things I need to do to make a 235 look like a 216 is the oil distrubution cover on the side of the block,I was thinking of cutting that part off a junk 216 block and attaching it to the new 235 I have picked up and wondering if it would stay on. This project of making a 235 look like a 216 has taken a life of its own and driving me crazy but I want drive the restorers nuts trying to figure out what I have done if I dont go nuts first.

I am not going to patina the motor as it will look like a fresh rebuild.

    That works.

  7. What year 216? As the first year for a valve cover oil filler is '48, '47 and earlier used the road draft tube.

I am trying to make it look like a pre 48 216,I have the valve cover with no oil cap and the correct road draft tube with the oil cap. I know it might be crazy to try to put the oil distrubution cover on the 235 but I have a new motor going in it and might try to see if I can find a way to attach the cover while the motor is on the stand, even though I have a 216 side cover on the present 235 I picked up a 37 side cover with the loops for the plug wires which will go on the new motor. It probably would have been easier to find a 41 to 48 splash oiler 235 and convert to full pressure but I did not know they even existed when I started this project.

Run a 292 with a 235 valvecover that will make folks scratch their heads.

Too far into making the 235 look like a 216 to turn back now.
