picked up this suuuuper solid underdecklid panel today at canfield as well . the solid ness cancels out the holes in my opinion!

I've got a project like this in my future...and on my trailer actually. As for those reference measurements that was passed to you.... Hoping there's a brother out there that has something that'll breakout the subrail measurements for a 28-29 Roadster. No derailing here...back to this build.

Having some A/c guys to crank out those crossmembers is just the right type of thinking to keep a project affordable for us little people! Thanks for that.

I didn't find anything for my coupe this year but found a bunch of stuff for my A pickup and my shoebox coupe.

Flop, outstanding metal work...as usual.
What exactly are the steps and procedures you take to achieve those results. Also, what are your tools of chioce. Are you doing all that with just a tig, hammer and dolly?
I've been following your work on here for awhile now, but even more so now...
just picked up a '31 coupe today. (in a million pieces).

Keep the tech and the pictures coming.

 

SO envious of the door hinges...... my coupe didn't come with any and I haven't found any yet..... repros are like $400-$600!!!!!! damn!!!

i use mainly a tig now a days i have 2 favorite hammers and a dolly a 5 inch electric sander a vixen file and a file with a bend that i have never seen anywhere else.

i think a set is 375 from blue chip engineering . supposed to be really nice .

for being really nice doors they still had a ton of work that needed to be done to them



i screwed up and used patches instead of making the cowl panels myself now im into this mess .





all in all the door came out awesome and i will have to cut the cowl out with a piece i make myself

Nice work! BlueChip Engineering is out of business as of Aug 1st this year,i bought out the rights to the hinges,kept the website www.modelahinges.com and looking to restock '30-'31's which we sold all out of.Full set all 12 pieces plus shipping to the lower 48 is $355..we are no longer gonna make the '29's too costly to make once we sell out of them that's it..

heres the next step . i took the template off of a beautiful quarter panel on a roadtser i am doing as well . the bead is thoroughly shot the whole way around and missing from the bottom .

i want to try to make it all in one piece on the bead roller .

 

some sheetmetal . transfered the template to some 18 gauge then ran it through the bead roller to make the step .



all kinds of measurements



tipping wheel was simple to make





well it was about 4 hours of work and its alright .still needs a ton of work to be right but hell only cost me 40 bux and a free skate board wheel from the local skate shop. the tipping wheel was simple to make i took the harbor freight cutting device that comes with the bead roller and fit a giant washer over and ill be goddamned a tipping wheel made for free.
