Today 9/28/2012 i made a GREAT find and have finally decided which way i want to go with my 28 roadster. drove a good distance and located an 1928 model A four cylinder engine. originaly removed from a SEDAN the engine will be reinstalled into my 28 ROADSTER. so it should be a nice match. will post pictures of both engine and body asap. its just to late today and i have no lights outside. the engine is really clean looking and been stored inside for over 35yrs. turns over by hand. transmission still hooked up. only missing the carb, fan, and alternator. i took the side cover off because it was missing a couple bolts and apparently someone needed the shaft that connects to the distributor. so i will be needing one if anyone has an extra. i will post pictures of this also later. the body is cool roadster cowl and doors. the rear is from a soft top coupe. so the rear half isnt exactly the correct size but with a little stretching can be corrected. i willl need some measurements if someone can help here.... from the door jamb to the rear deck arrea behind the seat. from what i know of....the coupe is shorter because of the size diffence of the doors of a coupe and roadster. plan on running the A on 16-19 inch wheels. wire spoke. unboxed a frame. juiced brakes...for safety basic highboy
do these old engines have a vacumm hookup? thinking about making a cool mod that alot of ppl on the board would love. also found all the parts i needed for the distributor on synders! heard about this on the hamb...great site. thanks guys.
tore into the engine today. removed the exhuast and distributor, and valve cover. boy i had a big suprise. packing peanuts and nuts. after cleaning most of it out i started painting the engine after i degreased it. needs a couple more coats...will posts update pics soon.
finally got around to taking some pictures. its rough but atleast its Henry Steel and a roadster. going to purchase some lower cowl patch panels. rest im making and patching.
You, my friend, have a bona fide coupester. Nothing wrong with them, I've got one in the works now. I just hope you didn't pay roadster prices for it!
looks good compared to what i started with i had the top half of the cowl and top half of the quarters, people around here laughed but made a good looking hot rod
yea i know the rear quarters are coupe quarters but ive done my measurements and converting them over to roadster quarters dont seem hard to me. so im going to be doing alot of sheetmetal work.
I'm scratching my head because I'm not as experienced, but you mean to tell me the quarters are different? What is it if not a roadster?
roadster quarters are longer and have a extra body line along the top edge. the upper deck panel is longer. the door posts are different. im sure there is several other thiings im overlooking
