I've got a '35-36 banjo rear that I'm going to use under the model a pickup I'm building. It's obviously far too long in its current state. I've read plenty of threads about shortening them, but I can't seem to find anyone locally that will touch this. Anyone have any thoughts on who to try? For the record, I've tried Hot Rods & Custom Stuff, Oceanside Driveline, C&G Early Ford and Dragmaster.

Do most people set up the motor and k-member (that's what I'm using) and then figure out how much needs to be removed, or is there a magic formula for how much to cut off?

    Thanks!

Drive up to Cooks Machine Works in L.A. Don't know the number off hand, but I believe they're on Telegraph Rd. They'll do it for you.

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed... just called 'em, and they said they can do it no problem. Pricey though: $250 for the ID and $150 for the OD to shorten. That's what I have into the entire rear end after rebuilding, including '40 brakes... damn.
