So I've noticed that my temp gauge was climbing the last couple of days. I had the car running while parked after work and popped the hood. Saw steam coming outta the overflow tube. So turned it off. Next morn, 430am b4 work opened cap and saw no a.f. So I ran back to the hose and filled up an empty water gallon and proceeded to fill. Drove to work and when I got off re checked. Levels good.
So am I in need of a overflow tank?
Background- recored/rebuilt (call it whatever) Harrison radiator, new t-stat, og waterpump, cap is new from The Car Shop (orange ca).
Its been a couple of days and levels are still good under cap.
    Thanks

58 Chevy's ran just fine for years and years and years with no overflow tanks. At least the one that I had did. Try it and see if the problem recurs. The coolant level should not fall in a short time unless you have a leak or a problem. Get a good shop to pressure test your system.
