Does anyone know of a good ford rear end swap to put in a 1934 ford with a flatty V8 and T5???? Or a manufacture the makes and org. looking one for highway driving??
I just measured the axle under my 57 ford pickup box trailer. It's about 58 inches flange to flange and with a wheel with 4 inches backspace,it gives me about 2 inches clearance from rim to inner fenders per side. Chassis Engineering sells a parallel leaf spring kit for 33-34 fords. .
8.8 ford rearends, i have used them in my last 2 builds, 29 roadster and 38 pickup, i like the disc brakes
What is wrong with using the stock banjo with an open drive conversion? Look at Hot Rod Works for everything you need to make the banjo rear do all you need. The T-5 lets you run the stock banjo gearing and have great cruising rpms.
The Bronco rear like Aviator says is a good fit. I have a 57 Ford nine inch in my 34 Ford coupe, and it fits perfectly. The early 70's 8 inch would probably fit as well.
damn it...i thought no one carried/made an open drive conversion for the 32-34 axle(i.e. speedway/dick spardo),,,so i went with a 66 bronco 9" rear instead..oh well, you live and learn... btw, i have a clean low mileage 34 banjo rear for sale cheap!
I'm running a '77 Ford Maverick 8" with the Chassis Engineering parallel leaf conversion, like Reggie runs ib his '34. Direct bolt in except had to elongate the holes in the spring pads about 1/4inch. Rides so much better than the stock 34 spring. I think the stock gears are around 2.90.
As stated above the ford 8.8" and 9" flange to flange measurements will get you there. New axles fairly inexpensive and easy to get and install from mutliple manufacturers. Used a '74 Maverick with standard backspaced wheels from Wheel Vintiques and they fit awesome!
This is, indeed, a sweet setup and the ride is good. Stock gears are 2.73 and 3.00 depending if the rear end came out of a stick shift or automatic car.
