Long story short, had my chopped 51 kustom on my lift saturday, getting ready to go to Chaotic Customs for final paint, when i raised the lift with the passenger door open and smashed the hell out of the upper door frame. Got an I-beam that runs the length of my shop and the top of the door got it real good! Smashed the upper frame, sprung the hinges, broke the door skin to frame weld. After i threw up, called chris, owner of Chaotic, he came right out, called me a bunch of names, looked it over said, I can fix it, but would be better if we could find a upper frame. Called my buddy Dennis Boles in Stober Mo., had a junk door cut the frame off and had it here yesterday. Now the amazing part, filed a claim with Hagerty Sunday on line, adjuster called me monday, faxed him the estimate and registration papers, e-mailed him the pixs of the damage. Just got a call from Hagerty, check is in the mail! Unbelievable customer service! Just glad i had project insurance on the car.

Sucks about your car, glad you got the dough quick.

Did they make you install a GPS tracking system in it in order to qualify for insurance? Some of their policies are retarted

  6. I have insurance with Chrome and they too offer a project insurance,,rather inexpensive. HRP

Thats one of the couple of reasons I chose Hagerty. The first is being agreed value between owner and insurance company, what you agree on is what you are covered for. The second is the spare parts rider. I think they give you $750 with any policy. You can increase the value to your hearts content. I think I went to $4000 worth of coverage for about $20 a year. This means if you are accident prone (Like myself), they will pay you up to $4k for any part you damage while working in your garage. They told me that if I have a new engine on a stand and somehow it gets knocked over, I am covered upto $4k worth of damage to engine.

Nice to be able to recoup some of the monetary damage to your car. This kinda takes the sting out of the accident, Kinda

Yes most kustom shops will not cover your car while it is in their shop, Hagerty has project coverage , which if you want, they will automatically increase coverage every few months, I decidered to contact them myself when something major was done on the car, when it goes back to Chaotic Customs for paint, glass and interior, i will increase it quite a bit. They are just just great people to deal with!

I joined Hagerty after Liberty Mutual would NOT give me another $20k policy after collecting on a $20k policy. $250 per year/$20k Initial Full coverage over the phone for my 31"A" & after pix & proper info, they said $20k policy for $223 for the year & sent me a $27 check.

Hagerty won't insure my shoebox because it doesn't have a lowjack installed.so I go with Allstate .

Lowjack? Are you dealing with a local agent or the home office?

Any "lowrider" is high risk for them, they want that Lowjack installed. I believe there is a monthly fee too, its like paying for satellite radio. BS!

I am dealing with the national office .they class my ride as a low rider because it has bags, hence the lowjack bullshit

That's odd, I just took out a policy with them and they didn't make any mention of that to me, and i've got air bags, too:confused:

  21. i wonder if it's got to do with the amount of coverage? just guessing, maybe over a certain dollar amount they want the lojack? if your talking about the car in your avitar, it's looks to be a nice ride.

  22. oh and thanks for posting this y-block. i've been thinking about getting the classic car insurance. i've got farm bureau. been with them for years on everything. i would imagine dealing with one of their adjusters on an old car would be a nightmare.

    Mr. Jack:
Sorry to hear about the Ford. Just glad that neither you or the I-beam were hurt. Did you have a tool in your hand when you were raising the lift?Looks like Mr. Chris will keep you on the payroll a while longer. Great to see you had a positive experience with the insurance company. You know how those insurance adjusters can be. Can't wait to see it finished.

I called Hagerty today but they don't cover daily drivers like my 53 Chevy. I have full coverage with state farm but they only offer collision up to $14000 which is pretty lame. That will not help me if it's totaled. They said they were more for the occasional trip to the malt shop/drive in etc. Guess I'll just have to take my chances.

Plus the purpose of this tread was to give hagerty a pat on the back for doing a great job covering my issue, not to post pictures of the victim. There were some H.A.M.B.'ers who came forward to help repair the damage, and can't thank them enought.
    Thanks to all, Jack
