I'm looking to wire my AV 8 soon. I bought that early Ford traditional wiring kit for a flathead. I have never done this before and wondering if there might be a good book out there to get me started.

I found it a little slow in spots but the plot overall is pretty good.

Been watching it on eBay and thought I might give it a read. I looked at this kit and already don't like the fuse block. The rest looks pretty quality thou. It still a puzzle to me. I know what a battery is and volt reg and that's about it.

  6. Worth every penny, doesn't cost much more than a cheeseburger, every tool box should have one. What else can be said, click the buy-it-now ****on., or order from Speedway, TR

That little orange book is worth every penny. It won't tell you step by step how to wire the car but it does show how all of the components are wired.

If you buy a wiring kit from anyone, you shouldn't need any other books. However if your wiring from scratch, a book like some of those suggested might be a good investment. Rebel wire, kwik wire www.kwikwire.com , haywire www.haywireink.com , I've used the last 2 but feel Rebel wire would be as good and easy to use. That's my 2 cents worth!

If it's an AV8 then this is all you need. This is a GM type system. I get scared when people use the term streetrod. That conjures up images of alternators, electric cooling fans and A/C. I have a personal hangup on alternators from the 60s used on hotrods built to look like hotrods from the 50s. It's a character flaw of mine.

If it's a streetrod then you can buy any brand wiring harness and use their customer service to answer any questions.

I have several old books including a hot to build Hot Rod which has a section about wiring that I have used many times and also the Tex Smith wiring book. HRP
