Well i got a 27 sedan from a friend of mine for $900. Needs some work but should be able to handle it with help from friends. Tops been chopped 10 in. and still needs to be finished. Building a 2x3 frame from some scraps my brother has. Getting major parts like the flathead, trans and rear from a 47 ford at the local wrecking yard. Hoping to get it done before the end of the year. Always looking for ideas so let me know if you have any. Might do a floor out of lexan to scare the crap out of unsuspecting passengers. I'll try to post pics as soon as i can.

Looks like a good start. What's with all the holes in the back? Did you do that?

I think thats where Jesse sticks the zoomies...
Or maybe air holes for "Body-drop"?

Gonna be a neat little ride once you get her done. Welcome...but you really should post an intro on the "Intro" page. :)

You got some great ideas, only one problem with the Lexan floor. Lexan scratches really quickly, even as a windsheild itll scratch up, imagine what rocks and flying things will do to it. Those holes got me wondering too...

  7. Regarding those "holes"... we want answers Mister.

Did you do the rolled pan? Looks like a good place for tail lights and possibly a vulgar garnishing of chromium.

A transparent floor? Something akin to a "glass bottom boat"? I like it. It's different.

Yeah, what everyone else said. Whats the story with the holes, and the "rear grille" looks 60's ? Cool find!

Maybe that isn't the back. He might be building the car backwards?

  12. Someone probably had an idea for a drag car, the holes let some of the air out to release pressure, otherwise the back of the body would act as a parachute.

Looks good, love the chop although I think I would have to do away with the custom taillight housing, but that's just me. Didn't Lil'Coffin have a taillight housing similar to that?

    Look'in good though, great find!:)

Well the guy that sold me the body put the lightning holes in it and i dont know why he put em there. Guess there was a little cancer there so that was just a way to get rid of it. I think ill fill in the holes and redo them b/c that back panel is pretty weak. And ill put some caddy taillights and plates in that rear grill. Its just made out of some electricl conduit but the bottom still has to be finished.

I was thinking about putting plastic tear aways like they do on stockcars. that way when the floor gets dirty just pull one off and the floor looks good as new.

Tough to tear away a full body pan sheet of plastic, isn't it? Maybe you can guard the "glass bottom" with some expanded steel mesh or whatever, spaced a couple inches below the Lexan. That'd keep the big rocks off and still make it so you can see out.

It looks good man, That model A sedan dragster we are working on at the shop has louvers in the back, same idea as the holes, I think they are kind of neat. Are you going to use that chevy grill shell you had?

Just a suggestion but theres lots of cool taillights out there, besides the totally (imo) overdone Caddys . Otherwise going with a 60's theme & a rear grille is gonna look good.

I'm sure he has the parts to make a complete front end, and i bet you could find some sort of juice brakes, maybe not popular stuff like f-100 brakes, but something that would suit your purpose, swing by the shop today, maybe bring a pic of your body to show mark.So thats Jim McCarty's body? I guess he decided to go roadster.

Cool looking project, although it does'nt look like a 10" chop. It would have alot smaller windows.

I like it, looks cool. I like the holes, and the pan. Reinforce the panel and keep the holes, make it functional for something. What, I dunno, but it looks unique The floor idea is cool, search around for companies that may be able to help you with the scratching issues. There has to be something that hold up. If you plan on putting seat on the lexan, make sure you reinforce those areas, especially where the seats bolt up. Good luck with it. be sure to keep us posted.

  24. Man... done by the end of the year... you're good!

I like the holes... but I don't think they jive with the rear pan. The pan is a custom-rod thing... and the holes are pure old timey race car stuff...

Keep us posted on this sure-to-be a neat project!

    Sam.

I love the clear floor idea. KICK ASS.... Hope you don't, but i mind i may try figure out how to put it in mine when i get there. Don't worry you will probably be done before me.

How thick would it need to be. Would put bracing or crossmembers under the seats and other areas but could leave the area between the front of the seat to the fire wall open so you can get the full affect.

Thanks... thought it was pretty cool when i thought of it. 1/4in. lexan should be thick enough since im gonna channel the body bout 4-5in. The floor stucture from that should be good enough.
