http://www.mcmaster.com/#rod-ends/=jr11b9 Is there a name for them besides what MCMastercarr calls them??? I was hoping speedway had them but I can't find them.
Spherical rod end/heim end. Depending on what size you need and what type of material you want it made from, you should be able to find them at your local speed shop or circle dirt track shop. It is going to be hard to beat the price and service if McMaster Carr has what you are looking for.
3/8" male on each end Well worst comes to worst, Ill get em at mcmaster, I was just hoping to throw them onto the next speedway order.
McM has higher quality than speedway...if you pick the right ones. I prefer the bronze insert for steering and general useage. For suspension i get xmoly from elsewhere.
Ah, those. they are scarce, i have gotten them from detroit speed suspension people. Where they get them from i have no idea, i try to engineer around useing them.
Her is a vendor, that more and likely makes most of them. http://www.flipbooksbyadventure.com/aurorabearing/ http://www.aurorabearing.com/product-catalogs.html ..
That is exactly what I am looking for, they are custom at aurora.... I would think these would be common as they are used on the ends of most rack and pinions??? Guess I'm gonna have to order through mcmastercarr, I just hate paying the shipping when I order through places like summit, jegs, and speedway on a regular basis.
Now I know what you want, Midwest Controls sells them. Could you get a junk R&P and modify the parts from that?
For all the HAMBers, I have discovered that anything I can find at Lefthanders is so much higher quality and much cheaper than anything I buy from the drag race or hot rod outlets. I guess the circle trackers are out there manufacturing this stuff trying to make enough $ to go racing one more weekend. Everything I've bought from their catalog is "Buddy Lee" tough, can't bust it. I also can't believe the prices for the quality. Check them out next time you're building a ch***is. Compare prices and quality, see if you agree.
I'd just get them from McMaster-Carr I used to order odd pieces from them all the time and they don't give a rip how big or small the order is and don't beat up on you on shipping. Half the small shops that would sell them are going to get them there anyhow and then add their percentage.
O/T I had a older mechanic leave a R&P inner tie rod with me and said, "throw it away or use it as a core plug installer" and I have used it for that purpose and it was great! Cool no-buck tool!
