I have this distributor and I would like to know more about it. Year, where to get parts, etc. I wanna get new points and a condensor. Also, I hooked up the negative wire from the coil to that little screw on the side of the distributor. I was told this is right, just wanted to double check. Thanks in advance for any help with this... Adam By the way, the tag on the side says ZB 247AX, and it is a Mallory.
not sure if its right just wanted to say i like the video of you roadster sounds cool o ya by the way this is paul johns son just saying hi take care
Is good distributor. Grab extra parts now--they are disappearing fast, and clean up the old ones as spares. PM me and I'll send you an instruction sheet for flathead installation.
Position of the dist and water outlets indicates that that's a late flathead you got there, identical position as my '53. I think what '49 to '53?? '53 parts oughta fit. Here's mine:
Slacker 53, The stock type distributor you have includes both mechanical and vacuum advance. The Mallory distributor he has is an aftermarket product and operates on mechanical advance only. The internal parts are not interchangable as well as the cap, breaker plate and rotor all all different. Stock Ford parts would not work in the Mallory distributor. BTW I buy all my Mallory parts from Ohio George Montgomery (famed 60's drag racer) speed shop in Dayton. 'Bout 100 miles for me but I go up about once a year and do a little "bench racing" with George and pick up spare parts for my Mallory. Mine is more of a "Revpole" type as the cam only has 4 lobes. Each of the dual points fires separate sides of the motor. George and his son now build all the racing engines for the Indy Light series race cars.
