newbie with a new project

    Hey all - just picked up a new project - 1956 Olds 88 2dr sedan. Hopint to find some good info here to help with the build!

    1956 2dr 88 sedan. From the vin, its an original CA car. Original motor and trans were sold off but everything else seems to be therr (in boxes). Some cancer on the roof near the drip rails, and a spot on the rear qtr. panel but over all shes in fairly good shape.

    Plans are to pop in a small block and get her on the road as is. leaving the paint the way it is for now for that "rat rod" look. Gonna do disc brakes up front, and try a 605 box instead of the original one. I'll add an after market column with a floor mounted shifter for the auto trans.

    This is just a beater project to work on with the wife and kiddo and hopefully attend some of the local shows or just cruise down to the beach for some ice cream on the weekends.

    I built an old '57 chevy 150 years ago so most of my knowledge is with tri fives. This will be a learning experience as i head out into uncharted waters.
